In December 2024, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History completed the most transformative act in its century-long story—a decade-long, $150 million reinvention that reconceived how science, design, and digital experience converge. The expanded campus now offers more than 375,000 square feet of new and reimagined galleries and 2 acres of outdoor experiential space, shifting the institution from static timelines to a living, inquiry-driven narrative that places visitors at the center of Earth’s story.

From a creative-tech perspective, the project is an example of immersive storytelling: dynamic, media-enhanced exhibits such as the We are all stardust and Ames Family Curiosity Center that unite interactive visualization, sensory design, and data-rich interpretation to reveal the interconnectedness of planetary systems and biodiversity. The architecture itself—drawing inspiration from glacial geology—framed through digital and spatial interaction, reinforces the thematic fusion of nature and technology. Cleveland Museum of Natural History has ranked fourth in USA Today’s ‘10 Best New Museums’ list.

My role in this project is overseeing a team of talented creative technologists in transforming the museum content with interactive technology. We made 5 distinctive interactives throughout the museum. “We are all stardust”, “Biodiversity across Ohio”, “We are all connected”, “Identify It!”,  “Mechanics of Evolution”.

I am the developer of “We Are All Stardust”.

We Are All Stardust (Kinect gesture tracked interactive with overhead projection mapping)

Mechanics of Evolution, a sceintifically accurate evolution simulator that depicts how environment affects evolution.

Biodiversity of Ohio (24 feet in diameter, with overhead projection), a 6-player multiplayer experience.

We Are All Connected, an experience that explores the hidden connection between human body and expected species.

Identify It!, an experience to explore and identiy species in the Ohio region.
